Educators invited to Project WILD Workshop
FINDLAY, Ohio–Educators of pre-kindergarten through high school students are invited to attend a free Project WILD workshop in northwest Ohio on Friday, Feb. 10, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The workshop focuses on supplemental curriculums that teach wildlife-related conservation concepts using everyday subjects such as math, science, and social studies. Project WILD and Aquatic WILD (K-12) guidebooks are provided to all participants.
The workshop will take place at the Wildlife District Two Headquarters, 952 Lima Ave., Findlay 45840 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Classroom teachers, youth group leaders, naturalists, program volunteers, and home-school educators are all welcome to attend. There is no workshop fee, but preregistration is required as spaces are limited. Contact Abby Ditomassi at (419) 460-3276 or [email protected] by Friday, Feb. 3 to preregister.
Project WILD and Aquatic WILD involve young people and wildlife, a proven formula for generating interest and participation while teaching common academic disciplines from kindergarten through high school. This is a supplementary education program emphasizing awareness, appreciation, and understanding of wildlife and natural resources. Project WILD is an ideal way to supplement curriculum and fire the imagination of students.
Participants are provided with documentation to submit up to six hours of continuing education units (CEUs) to their local professional development committee. Attendance also qualifies participants for Wildlife Education Grant funding.
