Crossbred Market Lambs (115-117 pounds)

Ada High School senior, Sidney Gossard, is a first-place winner at the Ohio State Fair, which opened on July 24.

She earned first place in Class 23 Crossbred Market Lambs (115-117 pounds). This photo is from the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association Facebook.

Kristin D. Sexton, 55, died on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at 9:46 Aa.m. at her residence in Ada.

She was born on Feb. 23, 1964, in Lima, Ohio, to Morris and Hulda Jane (Compton) Lawrence. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in Alger. On Nov. 2, 1983, Kristin married James Sexton and he survives in Ada.

Kristin was a homemaker. She was a Christian.   

Also surviving is a son, James Harlan (Shelby) Sexton of Dunkirk; a daughter, Samantha Jane (Kyle) Helton of Lima; five grandchildren; and two brothers: Mark Lawrence of Ada and Curtis Lawrence of Florida.

Two houses on Highland, just west of First United Methodist Church,  were  razed last week. The church owns the two properties and intends to add parking there. The next photo shows the work in progress.

Carmen's Crew wins Columbus regional on Sunday

 Ohio Northern All-American Ryan Bruns and the third-seeded Red Scare were eliminated from The Basketball Tournament (TBT) in the finals of the Columbus Regional  with an 85-71 loss to top-seeded Carmen's Crew in the regional finals on Sunday afternoon at the Capital Center.

In 15 minutes of action, Bruns went 0-for-3 from the floor with an offensive rebound.

In three games of TBT, the Ohio Northern civil engineering graduate averaged 6.3 points and 4.0 rebounds in more than 18 minutes of playing time per game.

ONU faculty, staff members contribute insights to author chapters in book

Ohio Northern University faculty and staff members contributed to a recent book about the opioid crisis and its impact on the state. “Not Far From Me: Stories of Opioids and Ohio,” edited by Daniel Skinner and Berkeley Franz, was recently released by the Ohio State University Press.

ONU Professor of Sociology Keith Durkin authored a chapter to offer his insights from the perspective of a social sciences researcher.
