WAYNESFIELD - The Ada volleyball team tipped off its 2016 campaign with a
convincing sweep of non-league local rivals Waynesfield-Goshen and
Cory-Rawson in a tri-match Saturday.

The matches were originally scheduled to be played at Ada, but had to be
moved to W-G since re-surfacing of the Bulldog varsity gym floor is still
being completed.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-0) stomped the host Tigers first 25-6, 25-16. Junior
hitter Melina Woods collected six kills, eight digs and served three aces.

It's done!

The painting and renovation of the Pennsy caboose in the Railroad Park downtown is finished. Mayor Dave Retterer will rededicate the new-looking railcar at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, during Harvest and Herb Fest. All are welcome to attend.

Here, Daphnie Shaw, 4, gives her approval. She is the daughter of Rob and Brittany Shaw.

Children love to climb the stairs, peek in the windows, and turn the clanky-clank wheel. The caboose has a new roof, new lettering, was repainted inside and out, and glass windows were installed.

New students moved into Ohio Northern University late last week and Monty Siekerman captured some of the action here.

Ronald Elwood Roll, 85, died on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at 6:25 p.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1931, in Mansfield to Elwood Gon and Hazel Marie (Hoffman) Roll, who preceded him in death.  On July 12, 1980, Ronald married Janet Dale Blair and she survives in Ada.
