Events at the Ada VFW
this weekend

• Friday, June 17 - steak dinner 5-7 p.m.
• Saturday, June 18 - Kwik as a Wink karaoke, 8 p.m.
• Sunday, June 19 -  breakfast open to members and the public,
   8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This is "Zeke." He is a 12 week old Plott Hound that was found starving. He spent 3 days at the vet with IV's and has gained a couple of pounds.He weighs 11 pounds but will be a larger dog. He is very playful and needs a home that will give him time to heal... (he is a special needs right now until he has gained back his weight.)

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Former ONU All-American Jackie Mangola has been named the head softball coach at Ohio Northern University, effective July 1. Mangola returns to her alma mater after a 2-year stint as head coach at Hiram, where she guided the Terriers to 21 victories in her time at the helm. She also served as an assistant coach in stops at John Carroll and Muskingum after her graduation from ONU with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education in 2012.

Linda Hamilton, executive director of the West Ohio Food Bank, spoke to Ada Kiwanis members during the June 14 meeting.

She said that the mission of West Ohio Food Bank is:  “Everyone should have access to healthy, nutritious food.  Together with our partners, we provide nutritious food to those in need."

Every year some street signs need replacing due to weathering, accidents, or theft.

Here are several that will be put up soon by village employees.

The street named High is the stolen most often, for some reason. The new signs are larger and more reflective. Ada has more than the usual number of visitors due to the university, festivals, and sports events at two stadiums. (Monty Siekerman photo)
