Meet "Zeke" the Icon's dog of the week

This is "Zeke." He is a 12 week old Plott Hound that was found starving. He spent 3 days at the vet with IV's and has gained a couple of pounds. He weighs 11 pounds but will be a larger dog. He is very playful and needs a home that will give him time to heal... (he is a special needs right now until he has gained back his weight.)

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.
Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.

The shelter is also the place to contact for giving up a dog, if you find a lost or stray dog, or if you come in contact with a vicious dog. It costs $20 to surrender a dog, which pays for deworming and immunizations for when it is rescued.

It costs $60 to rescue a male or female, which includes a dog tag, microchip, and immunizations. Dogs are neutered or spayed free, thanks to vets in the county offering their free services.

Call the shelter if you would like to volunteer to walk dogs, help with fundraisers, etc. The shelter does not deal in cats.

For more information, check out "Hardin County Dog Shelter" on Facebook. Their Facebook page shows more dogs that are available as well as those that recently were rescued.

Each week, the Ada Icon posts a picture of an available dog, perhaps one that will become a loving companion to you.
