Former All-American and current senior men's cross country runner Ian McVey has been tabbed the Ohio Athletic Conference's Runner of the Week for the third time this season.
He was crowned the All-Ohio Championships NCAA Division III individual champion for the second straight season on Saturday in Norton, Ohio. His new career-best time of 24:23.8 eclipsed the NCAA Division III field by 11 seconds, placing him fourth overall against a multi-divisional field including NAIA and NCAA Division I, II, and III institutions.
The emergency & trauma services department of Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) has purchased materials for kits that assist individuals in stopping an otherwise uncontrollable bleed during an emergency. These materials include gauze, gloves, markers, tourniquets for both adults and children, and more.
The department aims to educate the community on how to utilize the kits to stop a bleed while also providing them with the resources to do so. The goal is to distribute the kits to schools across Hancock County, major businesses in Findlay and law enforcement facilities to place in officer vehicles.
Ada Kiwanis Club officers, who were elected in May, assumed their year-long duties today.
They include Joe Ferguson, president; Marlene Hoorman, vice president; Jon Umphress, secretary; and Bryan Marshall, treasurer. Harold Friesner and Jack Jeffery, immediate past president, will be board members along with the officers.
Joe Ferguson joined Kiwanis in 2003. He previously served as vice president and president of the club, which has as its motto, “Serving children of the world, one child at a time.”
The Ada High School Marching Band and Color Guard earned a superior rating and first place in Class C Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Buckeye Invitational.
In addition the group earned honors for Best Color Guard, Best General Effect, Best Marching, and Best Visual Effect in class C.
The Buckeye Invitational is a high school band competition sponsored by the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA). It is hosted by The Ohio State University Marching Band and takes place in historic Ohio Stadium.
Liberty National Bank in Ada will celebrate its 125th anniversary with an open house from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 118 S. Main.
