Ada population proclamation
At the October 5 meeting of the Village of Ada council, village administrator Jamie Hall reported that a proclamation has been made by the State of Ohio declaring the village population to be 3,729.
The proclamation adjusts Ada’s 2020 census count of 5,334 minus 1,605 Ohio Northern University students.
Proclamations were also issued for the villages of Grafton (minus Lorain Correctional inmates) and Granville (minus Denison University students).
As a result, Ada remains a village and will not be required to become a city at this time. According to the Ohio Revised Code, “Municipal corporations, which, at the last federal census, had a population of five thousand or more, or five thousand registered resident electors or resident voters as provided in section 703.011 of the Revised Code, are cities. All other municipal corporations are villages.”
The proclamation is attached.
