Bluffton's Wheels event returns Friday - cruise at 8 p.m.

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - After a one-year cancellation, Bluffton Festival of Wheels returns to Main Street on Friday.

Vehicle registration for the 53rd annual Bluffton Festival of Wheels is underway according to Dan Diller, festival director. The show is sponsored by the Bluffton Lions Club.

This year’s festival is Friday, June 18, in downtown Bluffton. Registration is from 2 to 5 p.m. rain or shine. Vehicle judging is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Trophies will be awarded at 7:30 p.m.

The traditional cruise along Main Street starts at 8 p.m.

The show is open to antique cars, classic cars, trucks, tractors, golf carts, fire engines, motorcycles and Cushmans.

 Ada village council candidate Sean Beck announced that his campaign has received an endorsement from Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown.

The Beck campaign is excited that their message of transparent effective governance in our village is resonating with the people not just in the village, but around the state.

Sean said “I am honored, humbled, and incredibly excited to be endorsed by Senator Sherrod Brown. Sen. Brown is someone who truly cares about his constituents, and I've looked up to him for many years because of that. I am truly looking forward to being one of the Senator's Canary Candidates for the 2021 election cycle.”

Earlier this week the Icon sat down to a lunch with Brendan Jameson. We talked about a range of topics. Here’s a sampling the conversation with this Ada HS student.

Icon: What year are you in school in the fall and what does your class schedule look like?
Brendan:
I’ll be a junior. I’m taking advanced chemistry, anatomy, composition I and II, Spanish III, trigonometry and pre-calculus, American government, special projects with ceramics and I’ll have one study hall.

Kathlene “Kathy” Lacher, 73, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 3:47 AM at her residence in Harrod, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Oct. 1, 1947, in Lima, Ohio, to Ralph and Beatrice (Hunnaman) Watkins. Her father, Ralph preceded her in death. Kathy was raised by her mother and step-father, Jonah Adkins. Her mother, Beatrice Adkins survives in Ada, and her step-father preceded her in death.  

On August 1, 2000, Kathy married the love of her life, Jerome “Jerry” Lacher and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2007.
