Several ONU Law students are visiting Iceland over spring break as part of the Icelandic Legal Exchange Program – a partnership that’s been going strong since 1960. In addition to this meeting at the U.S. Embassy in Reykjavik, students will also visit the Icelandic Supreme Court and the Parliament. The program is a great opportunity for students to enhance their studies while gaining first-hand knowledge of Iceland’s legal system and culture.
As ONU athletic teams near the end of their spring trips, the Polar Bears, for the most part, returned to their winning ways. Here's a run down on the latest from South Carolina and Florida.
HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team posted its third consecutive victory as it defeated Albion (Mich.) Thursday morning at Hilton Head Island, S.C.
The Polar Bears improve to 11-2 overall, while the Britons fall to 3-4 overall.
Ada's Mackenzie Wills won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and won at doubles.
Pianist Polina Bespalko will present a concert at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 13 in the Presser Hall. Bespalko will perform pieces from Bach, Liszt, Schubert and Tchaikovsky. The concert is free and open to the public.
Described as an “amazing virtuoso” by the world renowned Nikolai Petrov and having a “complex, vigorous and demanding energetic attitude at the piano” by Brazilian newspaper Correio Brasilense, Bespalko is rapidly establishing herself as one of piano’s brightest stars.
Arlene L. Crozier, age 93, died on Wednesday, March 08, 2017 at 9:37am at Vancrest of Ada.
She was born on January 16, 1924 in Ada, Ohio to Fred H. and Edna E. (Packer) Wyss who preceded her in death. On July 17, 1942 Arlene married Howard L. Crozier and he preceded her in death on September 2, 2005 after 63 years of marriage.
Unlike a traditional semester in which students take several courses simultaneously, Ohio Northern University field semester students spend weeks on just one topic.
This semester in the Department of Biological and Allied Health Science is comprised of four three-week modules on field botany, field invertebrate, ichthyology and marine biology.
Students taking the class travel explore Ohio and spend time in Florida studying specimens in the Gulf of Mexico.
Demolition of an Ada house destroyed by fire earlier this year is underway. Fire departments from Ada, Lafayette, Alger and McGuffey battled the early January blaze.
