"Thrilling" is the best word to describe The Ultimate Michael Jackson Experience which was performed Saturday evening at the Freed Center.

Joby Rogers, who portrays Jackson, holds Aris Onan, in the lobby after the show. The 7-year-old is the daughter of Leandra Onan of Arlington.

Aris' favorite Jackson album is "Thriller," and she is dressed for the part with shiny silver slippers and a bright red Thriller jacket.

The current Pokémon Go craze breaks the gaming stereotype by encouraging interaction and building a sense of community among players, according to an Ohio Northern University faculty member who is well-versed in video games and community-building.

“As a society, we have lost many of our traditional gathering places and social centers,” said Erica Neely, Ph.D., ONU associate professor of philosophy.

“However, I think people still have that innate desire to connect with others, but many do not have a clue how to go about it. Games such as Pokémon Go offer that opportunity.

BLUFFTON - The Ada golf team hosted a four-team Northwest Conference event Wednesday evening.

Columbus Grove came in first with 196 strokes, followed by Bluffton (197), Delphos Jefferson (219) and Ada (298).

Senior Taylor Ramey shot a 66 to top Ada. Jake Colwell carded a 70 while Alex Morgan posted a 78. Nate Hurtig added a score of 84.

Aaron Belcher of Bluffton and Grove's Noah Oglesbee shared match medalist honors with a score of 46.

Ada is 0-10 and 0-5 in NWC play.

The Bulldogs are slated to play next at Allen East with Grove in an NWC tri-match Monday, August 29.

Lady Bulldogs sweep Rams

ADA - The Ada volleyball team swept visiting local arch-rival Upper Scioto Valley Tuesday night in a non-league match.

The victory improved the Lady Bulldog record to 3-1, while USV fell to 0-3.

The Lady Rams were scrappy and threatened in the final two sets but Ada overcame USV 25-7, 25-23, 25-20.

"We served hard and with good placement," said Ada head coach Melissa Gossard. "We came out on fire in the first set."
