Ada High School junior and senior girls (ages 16 to 18) are invited to enter this year’s Harvest and Herb Festival Queen contest. This year’s festival is Saturday, Sept. 17.

Applications forms are at the bottom of this story and in the Ada High School office. The application deadline is 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7. Judging takes place at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11, in the second floor conference rooms in McIntosh Center at Ohio Northern University.

Contestants will complete three brief essays on:

• If you were to support a special cause or offer to volunteer for a special organization, which would it be and why?

Ohio Northern University will hold children’s auditions for the “Holiday Spectacular” at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, in the campus’ Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

Tim Reilly, a producer for Banner Collective in Chicago, videotapes the Wilson/NFL logos which are being painted on a water tower in Ada on Monday. He also took video of the manufacturing plant. The video will be on hand for Wilson's for social media, publicity, and advertising use. The Wilson football factory and ONU, whose name is on the other water tower, are two of Ada's claims to fame. The Wilson water tower, built in 1929, is being repaired and painted by L.C. United Painting, Sterling Heights, Mich. The Wilson tower is 134 feet high to the balcony, 168 feet high to the top.

Summer is over, but the Ada school library wants to know what Ada students read over the summer. There's a contest with prizes involved.

Students are invited to stop in the media centerfor contest details and your chance to win. Students and staff will also be entered into a drawing for any new books checked out between now and Friday, Aug. 26.

Miss Vicki's Music Studio welcomes aspiring students of all ages to visit the studio  and learn more about how music can be a joyful part of your life, and of those you love.

Girls' tennis team whitewashes Lima Senior

LIMA - Visiting Ada whitewashed Lima Senior 5-0 in girls tennis action Monday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-1 as they recorded their second straight road win. Ada won all five matches in straight sets.

Meredith Marshall improved to 4-2 at singles with a near double bagel win. Shelby Higgins also dropped just one game to win at third singles. Libbie Milks lost just two games in her convincing victory at second singles.
