BLOOMDALE __The visiting Ada High School volleyball team lost a close five-setter to Blanchard Valley Conference foe Elmwood on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The Bulldogs won the first and fourth sets and extended the fifth game to overtime before falling in a tight battle.

Ada dropped to 14-4 and 3-3 in BVC play after the 24-26, 25-15, 25-21, 22-25, 19-17 defeat.

The Royals improved to 7-10 overall and 3-3 in the BVC with the win.

The lyrics describe the pressure one applies when trying to write or create to support themselves. In Billy Joel’s career, he has been nominated for 23 Grammy Awards and has won 5. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 and received Kennedy Center Honors in 2013.

My Mom’s apple pie is definitely among the top five Pyzik family recipes that I continue to make for both flavor and nostalgia. So when Bluffton’s America 250 committee announced an apple pie-making contest, I was all in.

But when was the last time I made Mom’s apple pie? It had been a while. I was relieved to put my hands on the old paper copy of the pie crust recipe and the baking instructions from my older edition of the Joy of Cooking. I have both cookbooks because my favorite brownie recipe isn’t in the later edition.

On September 29, 2026, Debbie lost her battle with leukemia and was called home by her eternal father, but not before stopping at the rainbow bridge and getting her walking buddy Kody. Together again, they’ll meet the Lord with smiling faces.

Debbie was born on September 7, 1959, in Russell, KY, to James Brown and Mary (Bradley) Brown. Debbie graduated from Greenup County High School in 1977 and from Ohio University in 1989 and eventually achieved a master's plus 30 degree.
