Randy Cox of Bluffton has been named administrator of Vancrest of Ada nursing home, which is now under construction across from the school and slated to open in February.
Cox has a long history in the nursing home business starting at an early age when his parents owned a nursing home in Ottawa.
He has worked in nursing homes in Virginia, Lima and a Vancrest facility in Holgate.
The 56,000-square-foot Ada facility, located on 18 acres, will have 50 beds for skilled nursing care and 32 assisted living units.

As the holiday season approaches, Lewis Family McDonald’s has begun preparing for their annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner.
The dinner, started in 1989 by the Chester Carey Family, is now in its 11th year under the Lewis family.
The dinner will be held on Thursday, Nov. 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lima Veteran’s Memorial Civic and Convention Center.
“We recognize the importance of having a place for people to eat and fellowship on a special day like Thanksgiving,” says Jerry Lewis. “Our community continues to support the event by donating clothes and groceries and by serving at the dinner.”
Families caring for loved ones with chronic health needs often feel caught in the middle: You want your loved one to have the best care, but you also want him or her to have the comforts of home. With home health care services the goal is to provide both.
November is National Home Care and Hospice Month. As the name implies, home care simply refers to health services that are delivered in a patient’s home. And the services themselves can be quite diverse.
“Some patients receive rehabilitation therapy or skilled nursing care,” said Claudia Crawford, RN, BSN, CHPN supervisor for Community Health Professionals of Ada.
