What is in a pattern? Is there a science behind patterns? The shell of a snail is a great example of how nature contains patterns that can be explained by math. The pattern found in a snail's shell can be explained by a phenomenon known as Fibonacci numbers. In addition, our brains naturally attempt to combine information to form patterns to make decisions quickly. With repeated exposure to information, our brain tries to simplify decisions by forming patterns.

Do you know of a young singer or dancer between the ages of 5 and 12 who would love the opportunity to perform on stage? Ohio Northern University will hold children’s auditions this summer for its "Holiday Spectacular" extravaganza and for the role of Chip, an enchanted teacup, in "Beauty and the Beast."

Two of Ada's wind turbines, just outside of the Ohio Northern campus, sit idle for the evening. The turbines are part of ONU's campus sustainability program.

A special mix and mingle event will be held by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.

On Wednesday, July 21st, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. the mixer will take place at The Cask Room, 127 N. Main Street. Cheese and crackers will be provided with a cash bar.

This event is in place of the monthly meeting.

Review by Robert McCool

"The Plot" (ISBN 978-1250790767) is all about the extenuating circumstances of birth.

Jean Hanff Korelitz's ("The Devil and Webster") new novel is a book within a book. It is all about how mothers and daughters come to reckon with each other when the girl grows up and wants to leave the parent's home. It is all about the circumstances around babies not wished to be born. It's a scathing examination of a mother's, and daughter's, needs in life and how to get them.

And that is the substantial plot from a purloined idea.
