18-person varsity swim team this season

ADA - Three-time state qualifier Klava Katayama will lead the 18-person Ada varsity swim team this winter as she chases another berth in the state meet. 

Katayama, who recently signed on to swim at Div. I Marshall University, seeks to become the first four-time state qualifier in Bulldog program annals.

Senior Isaac Spar, a multiple-time district qualifier, also returns to pace the Ada boys team.

Seven letter winners return to combine with several promising newcomers on the deep roster, with both boys and girls teams boasting nine swimmers.

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - Saturday's Blaze of Lights Festival draws families and friends off the couch and away from screens large and small  to enjoy a festive day in downtown Bluffton.

The 33rd annual celebration is expected to draw several thousand people to the village, according to Paula Scott, CEO of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce. 

Bluffton’s shops, restaurants and festival vendors are ready to keep visitors busy, warm, and well-fed.

Polar Bears are 4-0 out of the gate

 Junior Sydney Ward (Columbus/Upper Arlington) scored a career-high 18 points and senior Emily Mescher (Maria Stein/Marion Local) tied a career-high with 18 points to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 68-59 victory at area-rival Defiance on Tuesday night at the Weaner Center.

The Polar Bears (4-0 overall) out-scored DC 38-22 in the second half to rally from a 37-30 halftime deficit and remain undefeated on the season.

The Yellow Jackets (0-3) were led by Taylor Steinbrunner and Brianna Townley with 12 points each.

With Mescher and Ward dominating inside, ONU enjoyed an impressive 42-16 advantage in points in the paint.

Ada Presbyterian Church hosts a holiday supper and auction on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 5:30 p.m. The auction begins at 6:30 p.m. The supper includes soups, salad and desserts.

The suggested donation for the evening is $6 for adults and $3 for children (ages 3-12).  Part of the proceeds will go toward mission projects.

Ada Church of Christ Disciples presents two gospel concerts in December:

On Sunday, Dec. 8, at 10:30 a.m. Danny Ray, southern gospel singer-songwriter, will perform.

On Sunday, Dec. 22, at 10:30 a.m., HeartSong, a southern gospel group, will perform.
