The number of illnesses caused by tick, mosquito and flea bites has more than tripled over 12 years, according to the CDC. But there are ways to keep yourself safe.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 640,000 cases of these illnesses were reported from 2004 through 2016.

Although children may appear to be less affected by the death of a loved one, there are many questions, fears and worries as they attempt to make sense of the loss and deal with the changes.

Grief Trails is a program that allows children, ages 6-12 years old, to learn about the importance of communicating their emotions and needs to others while working hands-on with gentle horses. The children come together with their peers in an encouraging environment and participate in activities that will help them express their feelings, learn effective communication tools and have fun at the same time.

According to instructor Lynne Scott, people are having so much fun at her Aqua Zumba classes, they refer to them as “pool parties.”

Held Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-7:45 p.m. at the Ada Municipal Pool on South Park Drive, the classes have drawn as many as 30 people since hot weather finally arrived.

“It was pretty chilly in June,” said Scott.  “but we’ve really been gaining momentum in the past few weeks.”
