Kathy M. Risner, age 65, died on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 9:57 p.m. at OSU Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.
She was born July 22, 1953 in Allen County, Ohio to Willis and Elsie (Conley) Shinkle. Her parents and step-father, Thomas Marshall, are deceased.
Surviving are her four sons: Michael (Kathleen) Risner II of Alger, James Matthew (Krisha) Wall, III of Lima, Nathaniel (Rina) Wall of Columbus and Jacob Wall of Columbus; daughter: Cassandra Wall of Columbus; ; two sisters: Charity Dunson of Lima and Reba Shinkle of Texas; 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Aaron Maidlow is the new administrator of Vancrest of Ada. Today, he was found serving pancakes for National Senior Citizens Day. Vancrest invited the community and its residents to a full breakfast at the $6 million facility that opened in May of 2016 and filled rapidly.
Maidlow comes to Ada having served with Autumn Court Healthcare Center in Ottawa and Cridersville Healthcare Center. He and his wife Andrea are the parents of three children, Kaedence, 6, Emmett, 4, and Camry, 1. The family lives in Ottawa.
The new administrator is a graduate of Pandora-Gilboa High School and Bowling Green State University.
The Ada Public Library and the Ada Historical Society present "Remembering the great War" on Wednesdays in the month of September, according to Rhett Grant, library director.
Retired Professor, Dr. Karl Roider of Louisiana State University, will teach a course on World War I, on four Wednesdays in September as this is the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.
The course will take place from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in the Ada Public Library's community room and is free to all. For more information call the Library at 419-634-5246. All are welcome and the program is free of charge.
ONU welcomed a large incoming class this year, the highest number in about 10 years. Over the weekend, the incoming class of nearly 700 students gathered on the Tundra for a group shot. There will be lots more Polar Bears in Ada this academic year. The freshman class is about 10 to 15 percent greater than a year ago.
Memorial services Ralph “Teed” F. Neiswander, age 95, will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Deacon Michael Hood officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada, Ohio. Military services will be conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service, from 11:00 am- 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Seepteber 24, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, Ohio.
He died on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 11:00 p.m. at Birchaven Village in Findlay.
