Ada's latest news

Hardin County Sheriff’s Office has been receiving many complaints from people who receive calls from someone claiming to represent the Internal Revenue Service.  The caller claims that the call recipient is delinquent with IRS payments and must contact and/or make arrangements to pay the IRS immediately or face arrest.  This is a well-worn scam.  The IRS does not conduct this type of business by phone.  Should you receive such a call, the best thing to do is simply hang up.

But, mainline rail traffic through Ada continues

The railroad siding at the grain elevator is being repaired this week.

The ties will be replaced and, good news for motorists, the road will be made smooth once again. However, the Gilbert Street crossing will be closed most of this week due to the improvement, which is being paid for by the elevator.

The main line through town remains open for rail traffic.

Good news for the financial health of ONU and those who own businesses or work in Ada: This year’s incoming freshman class is significantly bigger than last year. Today is move-in day for undergraduates with about 690 students lugging everything but the kitchen sink into their rooms. This is a 10-15 percent increase in incoming students this year compared to year ago.
