The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team has been picked finish first in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings in a poll voted on by the leagues 10 head coaches, released Friday morning.

The Polar Bears received 77 votes in the poll, including six of the 10 first place votes.

Mount Union finished second in the poll with 73 points and the four remaining first place votes, while Otterbein rounded out the top-3 with 67 points.

The Polar Bears were narrowly edged by the Purple Raiders at the indoor OAC Championships a season ago.

The Polar Bears were dubbed the runners up after receiving 72 points in the poll and two first place votes.

Mount Union was picked to finish first with 77 points and the final eight remaining first place votes, while John Carroll was selected to finish third in the poll with 66 points.

It appeared to be a young cow, probably less than 6 months old on the way to an auction. It ran across Main by Quest Financial and First United Methodist Church, into a backyard on Highland where it was cornered.

The trailer owner placed a rope around the cow's neck and led it back into the trailer.

HARROD - Host Allen East built a 15-point halftime lead and cruised to a 63-35 win over local rival Ada in a Northwest Conference girls basketball battle Thursday evening.

 

The purple and gold fell to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the NWC with the defeat, while the Lady Mustangs improved to 2-3 and 1-1 in league play after the win.

 

Ada trailed 13-7 after one period, and AE stretched the lead to 31-16 at intermission. The Mustangs extended the margin to 41-24 after three periods and finished strong with a 22-point fourth quarter to win going away.

 

ONU sophomore Christiaan Williams (Sidney/Anna) has been named an Associated Press Second Team Little All-American in Div. III Football for his efforts during the 2017 season.

The 2017 Associated Press Little All-America Division III football team, was brought back this year in a partnership between the College Sports Information Directors of America and the Associated Press.

Williams is the first Polar Bear since Wes Hostetler in 2005 to be named to a Little All-America team and became the ninth football player in school history to earn the honor.
