Ada Gatekeepers - new organization at AHS

A new student-led orgainzation is forming at Ada High School called Ada Gatekeepers.

According to Ada Bulldogs Facebook, the group, open to freshmen through seniors, will focus on increasing mental health awareness, reduce the stigma of talking about life problems, and suicide prevention.

Gatekeepers intend to make a positive impact at school, with peers and the Ada community, please see Mrs. Vermillion to sign up by December 5th. The first meeting is Monday, Dec, 11.  Students interested in joining should see Marlene Vermillion.

The youngsters helped on Sunday morning during the Ada United Methodist Church hanging of the greens for the Christmas season. The church uses 100 candles, many trees, much garland, and a number of wreaths in its seasonal decoration.

 Pamela J. Risner, age 64, died on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 9:17 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

          She was born on November 8, 1953 in Allen County, Ohio to the late Richard H. and Helen C. (Halker) Zeller.  On February 18, 1971 in Harrod, Ohio Pam married Charles E. Risner and he survives in Alger.

Billy Joe Murphy, age 83, died on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 12:35 a.m. at Vancrest of Ada.

          He was born on March 17, 1934 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to the late Andrew and Pearl (Creekmore) Murphy.  On October 5, 1956 Billy married Donna E. Brooks and she survives in Ada.

          Billy retired from Scot Lad Foods where he worked as a truck driver.  He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served during the Korean War.  He was a member of the LaFayette Missionary Baptist Church.  Billy was a member of the Sager Lodge F&AM #513, a former holder of the 32nd Degree Mason of Dayton and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star #121.
