Ohio Northern University awarded National Institute of Mental Health grant to study ‘Time-Dependent Effects of Stress and Learning: Physiological and Genetic Associations’
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) has awarded Ohio Northern University an Academic Research Enhancement Award to conduct research that could provide new insights into traumatic memory formation and ultimately lead to more-targeted treatment options for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The Ohio Northern University Symphonic Band presents its spring concert in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Monday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m.
The program, titled “Soundscapes 2015,” takes the audience to a variety of places and spaces with representative musical sounds. The term “soundscape” refers to the sounds associated with a particular time and place.
Ohio Northern junior Meghan Letizia was named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis player of the week for the time period ending March 9.
Letizia led ONU to a 4-0 record on their spring break trip with road wins at Ursuline, Glendale (Ariz.) CC, Paradise Valley (Ariz.) CC and #15 Pima (Ariz.) CC.

Ohio Northern senior Dan Belliveau and junior Nick Eltzroth were named Ohio Athletic Conference Baseball hitter and pitcher of the week for the time period ending March 9.
Belliveau was named hitter of the week, while Eltzroth pitcher of the week.
The senior had 26 at bats, with 13 hits and two home runs. He batted in 13 runs and holds a .462 batting average.
Eltzroth in 2-0 from the mound, with 11 strike outs and a 0.00 ERA. The junior has given up no runs in 13.2 innings of work.
The Polar Bears are next in action Saturday March 14 as they travel to Trine (Ind.).
The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) released grant applications for the 2015 Agricultural and Rural Community Outreach Program (ARCOP). The program, jointly administered by the Ohio FFA Foundation, Ohio FFA Association and ODA, helps local FFA chapters finance worthy community development projects.
Local FFA chapters can submit project proposals until April 1, to the Ohio FFA Foundation. A committee will then select projects to receive grant funds ranging from $750 to $2,500. Grant winners will be notified by April 15.
