Ada’s school board reorganized for 2015 on Jan. 8. It was the 154th reorganizational meeting for the board, making it one of the longest continual annual Ada events.

The following appointments took place:
• Tara Griffith, board president
• Ron Fleming, vice president

The board set the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. as its regular monthly meeting. Those meetings take place in the board of education office of the 1971 school wing.

The Hardin County Dairy Service Unit will be awarding a scholarship at their annual banquet on February 21, 2015.  Funds raised from the association’s semi-annual cheese sale are used to support higher education with this scholarship program.  Eligible students must live on a dairy farm, have grown up on a dairy farm, work on a dairy farm, be pursuing a dairy related education, or have shown a dairy heifer or dairy cow project at the Hardin County Fair.

The Ada Club met on Tuesday January 13, 2015 at 12:00 noon at McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University, Ada President Kiwanis John Berg called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon.

The Kiwanis anniversary of member Scott Allison (January 16, 2006) was noted.

The birthday of member Tom Kier (January 24th) was also noted.

In business:

-Members heard an updated report on club finances.

-The satellite club met last week. They will meet tomorrow at 6:00 pm at the Community Health Professionals Building.

-ONU Circle will meet the last week of January

-Pancake Day flyers have been prepared and will start being distributed.

Ada High School will hold its annual financial aid presentation for students, parents and community members.  The meeting will be held Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. in the media center. 

A representative from Ohio Northern University will provide information that is applicable to all colleges and universities.  Topics to be discussed will be completing the FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, sources for aid, and specific concerns of those attending.  The meeting is open to the public.

Several area students were named to the fall Ohio Northern University dean’s list. Those students include:

Lauren Hector, daughter of D. Keith and Rhonda Hector, 111 Tr 20, Mount Cory. She is a senior majoring in graphic design.

Kempf, son of Kathy Kempf, 16671 Township Road 51, Mount Cory. He is a senior majoring in exercise physiology.

Austin Marquart, son of Jed and Teresa Marquart, 9400 Columbus Grove Rd, Bluffton. He is a pharmacy - sixth year majoring in pharmacy.

Lisa Scheckelhoff, daughter of Gary and Debra Scheckelhoff, 455 Shannon St, Bluffton. She is a pharmacy - sixth year majoring in pharmacy.
