Obituary for Donna Ruth (Hadley) Gisondi
Donna Ruth (Hadley) Gisondi, age 88, of Bluffton, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 29, 1936 she was the daughter of Donald and Margaret Hadley who resided in Waynesville, Ohio. On April 14, 1956 she married James (Jim) David Markley and moved to Lebanon, Ohio where together they would raise their family. James preceded her in death in April of 2000.
Growing up in Waynesville, she was a lifelong member of the Friends Church and built cherished memories spending time with her cousins. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, playing bridge with friends, and nurturing her garden. She had a special gift for growing and caring for plants, with a particular passion for cultivating tomatoes, which she lovingly shared with friends and neighbors.
After the death of her first husband James, Donna met and married Nicholas Gisondi in 2002. During their new life together, they enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and spending time with family.
Donna experienced her greatest heartache with the passing of her beloved son, Jon Markley, in 2020, a loss she carried with deep sorrow.
Donna is survived by her husband Nicholas Gisondi, daughter, Julie (Tom) Markley Simmons, daughter-in-law Lisa Markley, five grandchildren—Lindsay (Austin) Conley, Tyler Simmons, Nicole (Vincen) Luo, Ian Markley, Jason Markley—and two great-grandchildren, Beckham and Sawyer Conley. She also leaves behind beloved first cousins, dear friends, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Donna carried her generous spirit into death by donating her body to Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, reflecting her lifelong commitment to learning and helping others. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Friends Home Museum in Waynesville, Ohio. A place that held great memories for Donna and her Waynesville heritage.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her kindness, competitive nature, and the abundant love she gave to all.
