FINDLAY__The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team lost 5-1 at Liberty-Benton in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match on Wednesday, September 17.

Ada fell to 9-2-2 overall and 0-2-1 in the rugged NCOSA after the defeat.

Defending North Central Ohio Soccer Association co-champion Liberty-Benton improved to 6-4-2 overall and 2-0 in the league standings with the victory.

Eagles Kylie Modd and Piper Ogden each scored two goals to pace the victors. Ally Ferris added the other L-B goal.

“We got stuck playing a game of reaction to what L-B was doing instead of us being able to try and dictate any of the pace of the game,” said Ada head coach Doug Dewese.

“The level of possession we saw tonight was far above anything we have seen this season,” he noted. “On the plus side, the girls never quit and we had some great offensive pushes that got killed by one or two mistakes.

”And against a team like L-B, they are going to punish any mistake you make,” he added.

Ada trailed 2-0 after the first half.

Ada sophomore Avary Acheson scored the Bulldog goal on an assist by Maire Boulanger to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second half. But L-B tacked on three more scores to win going away.

Eagles Lucy Baker, Liz Niese, Modd, Reese Alexander and Sophie McDaniel each passed out one assist.

Ada sophomore keeper Emily Gibson made 15 saves in goal.

“We played really hard, we just couldn’t ever take control of the game in a meaningful way,” noted Dewese.

Ada plays at league foe Upper Sandusky (5-4-1, 0-1-1 NCOSA) on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
