7 Bulldog girls earn honors

ADA__Two players from the Ada High School girls soccer team were recently named first team All-North Central Ohio Soccer Association in voting recently conducted by the league coaches.

In all, seven Bulldog girls earned some form of all-league honors. Ada has posted a 12-4-2 mark this fall, setting a program record for wins in a season.

Ada junior scoring leader Kenley Poling was voted first team All-NCOSA. The forward has scored 16 goals and passed out six assists for 38 points.

Ace senior playmaker Alex Gibson also made first team all-league. Midfielder Gibson has tallied 10 goals and dished out eight assists to total 28 points.

Sophomore keeper Emily Gibson was named second team All-NCOSA. She has made 125 saves and posted nine shutouts partnering with the tough Ada defense.

Quick junior defender/MF Reese Jordan was also voted second team all-league.

Three talented Ada sophomores were named honorable mention all-league. Emily Shanks, Avary Acheson and Rose Baxter made HM All-NCOSA. Strong and competitive midfielder Shanks has tallied three goals with three assists for nine points.

Skilled forward Acheson is second on the team with 12 goals. She has also doled out eight assists to tally 32 points.

Speedy and powerful forward Baxter has netted five goals and passed out three assists for 13 points.

Ada ended up 0-3-1 in the rugged NCOSA standings. Liberty-Benton won the league at 4-0, followed by Van Buren (3-1), Upper Sandusky (1-2-1), Riverdale (0-2-2) and Ada.

L-B’s Kiley Modd was voted NCOSA Player of the Year.  

Eagle mentor Andy Modd was named NCOSA Coach of the Year by his peers after leading Liberty to the crown. Nick Ferris was voted the league Assistant Coach of the Year.

Ada plays at Bluffton (9-8-1) in the district semifinals on Monday, October 20 at 7 p.m.
