Alexandra Mercorelli of North Canton, Ohio, proved the power of perseverance through her graduation from Ohio Northern University this spring.
She also earned a prestigious Dorothy Morrison Memorial Scholarship from Alpha Mu Tau fraternity, which advances professionals in the clinical laboratory sciences, for graduate study.
Mercorelli, a North Canton High School graduate, earned a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science after sitting out much of the previous year for surgery and rehabilitation to have a cancerous tumor removed from under her shoulder blade.
The Ada Music Booster blueberry fundraiser is officially underway and runs through Wednesday, June 26.
Persons may purchase 10 pounds of fresh New Jersey grown blueberries for $32. "These blueberries are great fresh and freeze well," said Amy Morgan of the Boosters.
"We hold this blueberry sale to raise funds to help purchase costumes, music, props and equipment and for all of the wonderful programs the Ada students will have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming school year," she said.
Ada Rotary Club hosts a barbecue chicken dinner on Thursday.
Pick-up is at Hays Insurance, corner of Main and Lincoln, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the dinners are $8 each. The dinners include a half chicken and two side dishes.
The project supports Ada Rotary scholarship and service projects. Rebecca, an Ada HS graduate and Rotary Outbound Exchange student to Belgium in the 2019-20 school will offer drinks and desserts at the pick-up.
