 Louise T. Baker, 94, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020, at 6:49 a.m. at her home in Harrod, surrounded by her family.  Louise was also known as “Granny” “Ta-Da” or “Sis,” depending on who she was talking to.

Louise was born on Sept. 10, 1925, to Balthasar and Teresa (Thuringer) Kirchmeier, who preceded her in death.

On Sept. 20, 1946, she married Charles E. Baker who died Sept. 8, 1971, in Denver, Colorado. After her husband’s death, Louise moved to Ohio where she made her home with her daughter, Donna and son-in-law Phil, in Harrod, until the time of her death.

The congregations of St. Mark Lutheran and Sugar Grove United Methodist are working together to provide a free community meal – Last Wednesday Community Meal –  from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26.

The meal is for carryout only and pickups are available at St. Mark, 125 Johnson St., Ada. Social distancing and safety protocol will be observed. The meal will be served out of St. Mark Lutheran located at 125 S. Johnson St. Ada.

The menu includes shredded chicken sandwich, bakes beans, melon chunks and a cookie.

Brittany Daniels, third grade teacher, welcomes Ada students back to school on Monday morning. This year's fashion style includes masks.

Americanism and Government tests, Boys and Girls State reps, helped Boy Scouts with flag placement, conducted Memorial Day service

Tom Lehman, first vice commander, provided the Icon with the following update of the Ada American Legion Post 185.

Ada American Legion Post 185 is still active.  Although the post has only met once since the Covid 19 outbreak they are still trying to carry on as well as possible.  The Post meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the VFW Hall north of Ada.

ADA - Behind all-everything senior quarterback Brandon Hull, the 2020 Ada football team looks to rebound from another injury-plagued season amid uncharted waters in a pandemic-affected campaign featuring a unique schedule.

The Bulldogs are coming off their second straight 2-8 season (1-6 Northwest Conference) ravaged by injuries.

An explosive offense could help the Bulldogs return to .500 or better, but the porous defense must improve greatly to achieve that goal.
