Ada Public Library

After nearly two weeks of indoor remodeling

The Ada Public Library is now open after being closed for inside construction since Jan. 10, according to Rhett Grant, library director.

"The addition is not due to be completed until Feb. 28," he said. "The parking lot is wonderful, but not our's until the construction crew turns it over to us. Come check out our new ceilings, front desk, carpet and other changes.

During the closure fines did not occur on patron cards and all patron holds have been placed on suspension during the closure.

The first official event held following the reopening is the Ada Historical Society organizing committee meeting 6:30 p.m.

The Ada Public Library will be closed for a week and a half starting Wednesday, Jan. 10, because the  library is undergoing a major renovation and addition. The library will reopen at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22.

During the closing work will be done on the ceiling and renovations in the main part of the library, taking advantage of being closed for Martin Luther King Day and a staff inservice day. A new front desk will also be built during the closing.

The Ada Public Library board of trustees will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, for a reorganization meeting. The regular January board meeting will follow. The meetings are open to the public.

The answer to "how to set up your new devise" is at the Ada Public Library

Note: This is the first of a series of columns from the Ada Public Library's tech trainer.

Around this holly jolly holiday season, many of you will probably recieve a new laptop, tablet, or cell phone from Santa (if you've been nice this year).

When setting up your new device, it will likely require the creation of a new account or email address - so be sure to write all the information down.

Keep a notebook or journal of all emails, user names, passwords and pin codes
created on the new device, or you may find yourself locked out and out of luck!

All within a matter of hours

About 20 houses were built in Ada on Friday evening, all within a matter of hours.

That's enough to fill a subdivision. The houses, all one-story, were made by kids...gingerbread houses.

If you are looking to entertain kids with something creative, and gooey, then building gingerbread houses fits the bill.

The project was sponsored by the Ada Public Library, but held at the United Methodist Church across the street because the library itself is undergoing an addition and renovation, but not of gingerbread.
