Mustard Seed Café, 562 N. Main St. Bluffton, is featured in the May 2015 issue of "Ohio Magazine."

Lemon Blackberry Shortcakes get top billing on the cover of the magazine and there is a photo of the summer dessert inside.  Chef Rhonda Moor says that her grandparents’ backyard berry patch inspired the fresh fruit she uses to create the “sweet compote that spills out from between two layers of a rustic shortcake.” 

She indicated that her favorite food memories go back to her grandparents - the many delicious meals experienced with them and the incredibly loving environment in which they were provided.

The May dessert feature at the cafe will be the shortcakes.

Mustard Seed Café, 562 N. Main St. Bluffton, offers the following features for the month of April:

Dinner: 
Rack of Lamb with ricotta mashed potatoes, mint gremolata, roasted carrots, black olives and pistachios

Spring Pasta: Pasta with crab, asparagus, pancetta in lemon cream with sun-dried tomato almond pesto

Starters: 
Oysters...1/2 shell or Rockefeller

Soup and Salad: 
French Onion Soup

Lunch: 
Chorizo and Ricotta meatballs with roasted red pepper coulis, spinach and tapenade

Dessert:
 Baked Lemon Rice Pudding

Wild Turkeys
Turkeys are rebounding in this area and in all of Ohio for that matter. Last year hunters took more than 16,000 gobblers in Ohio. April is the month when the toms strut their stuff, a natural phenomenon called "The Show." So, if you are a birder or hunter you may want to catch a glimpse of of "The Show" in a woods or field near you during breeding season. This year's turkey hunting season in Ohio extends from April 20 to May 17.

Mustard Seed Café, 562 N. Main St. Bluffton, will offer an Easter brunch on Sunday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m..  The regular menu is not available and reservations are strongly suggested:  567-226-1120.

Mustard Seed Café, 562 N. Main St. Bluffton, will be offering A Tasting of Italian Wines and Pasta on Friday, March 27.

In lieu of the regular menu, there will be four courses of pasta paired with four different wines.

There will be two seatings--
5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. -- and reservations are strongly suggested (567-226-1120).
