Dec. 5 in Kenton; will focus on changes to ARC/PLC

A Farm Bill Update meeting for farmers has been planned for Thursday, Dec. 5 at Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative, 1210 W Lima St., Kenton. The meeting is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. 

The 2018 Farm Bill allows the choice to enroll in ARC or PLC for 2019-2023. Enrollment for 2019 is currently open with the deadline set as March 15, 2020. 

OSU Extension and the Farm Service Agency personnel will discuss changes to the ARC/PLC, important dates and deadlines, crop insurance – supplemental coverage option, and using decision tools to evaluate program choices to make informed program decisions.

There is no cost to attend the meeting and refreshments will be provided. 

McGuffey is hosting their first-ever Christmas Parade on Wednesday, Dec. 4, in downtown McGuffey. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m., with activities to follow in the Community Room (behind the Post Office), 404 Courtright St. If you're coming from out of town, feel free to park at the school.

To see the parade, line up along Courtright Street (St. Rt. 195).

After the parade, Mr. & Mrs. Claus will be in the Community Room for pictures, Mr. Claus will read the Christmas story from the Bible to kids, plus indoor carnival games, free cookies, hot chocolate and hot apple cider will be available.

All vets eat free!

The Ada VFW Post 9381 Auxiliary will hold a Veterans Day lunch at the VFW Hall on  2147 State Route 235 at 1 p.m.,  Monday, Nov. 11.

Veterans eat free and non-veterans can eat for $9. The meal includes either a half chicken or pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, and a dessert.

Tipp City, just off Interstate 75,  hosts A Shopkeeper's Open House located in historic downtown Tipp City, Ohio, Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 10, noon to 6 p.m.

11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at Henry Solomon Lehr statute

Daus Hempker will deliver remarks during a Veterans Day wreath-laying ceremony at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the Henry Solomon Lehr statue at the front of the Ohio Northern campus. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in Presser Hall.

Hempker, a U.S. Army veteran, was severely wounded by an IED (improvised explosive device) while on patrol in southern Afghanistan in 2010 and underwent several surgeries and years of arduous, painful rehabilitation. Specialist (Spc.) Hempker served tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

During his more than six years of service in Iraq and Afghanistan, he earned the Combat Infantryman Badge and a Purple Heart.

“A Christmas market in the mansion” takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Jones Mansion, 313 E. Sandusky St., Findlay.

Admission is a $3 donation at the door with proceeds going toward upkeep and restoration of the mansion.

The event includes several market vendors with primitive holiday wares, paper goods, jewelry, women’s boutique clothing, cookies, children’s clothing, teas, herbs and flowers, soaps, Ohio poured candles, pillows, jams and jellies, doodle designs, quilting, dried fruit snacks, handmade stone coasters and more.
