The University Singers of Ohio Northern University will present a concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24 in Presser Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

 The Homecoming weekend concert will feature all of the University’s choral ensembles. The program includes contributions by Polar Rhythms, a self-directed student a cappella group; University Singers, Men’s Chorus and Chamber Singers, directed by ONU music faculty member Christopher Larsen; and Women’s Chorus, directed by ONU music faculty member Marilyn Roth-Basinger

The Parker Presents jazz group will perform at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28 in Presser Hall. The event is free and open to the public. The group consists of Gene Parker on saxophone, Ray Parker on bass, Harry Allen on tenor sax, Tad Weed on piano and George Schuller on drums.

 Gene Parker, an adjunct professor of jazz at Ohio Northern, plays more than 12 instruments. He has been a professional musician in the Toledo area for many years. His son, Ray Parker, is a New York City bass player. Both men have performed nationally with some of the biggest names in show business.

Family-oriented Saturday with lots of activities

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - Bluffton’s family-friendly 14th annual Fall Festival is Saturday, Sept. 23. Activities are in six locations throughout the community with most taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. As in past festivals, bus transportation is available between all locations at scheduled intervals.

Lunch and raffle during Harvest & Herb Fest

The Ada First United Methodist Church will serve lunch at the church and have a quilt raffle during Harvest and Herb Fest on Saturday.

Serving will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 1:30 p.m. The raffle for the queen size quilt will take place at 1:30 p.m. with proceeds going to missions. Tickets are available from women of the church or by calling 419-303-3168.

Mornings with Mommy, educational play-dates begin Monday, Sept. 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera.

Offered for infants through preschool age children (ages 0-5 years) and meet other moms, these dates continue on the first and third Mondays and Tuesdays of each month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church, 301 N. Main St., Jenera.

Advance registration is required online at tlcjenera.org or by calling 419-326-4685. The cost is $5 per family (not per child) per session. Payment may be by cash or check.

The Inn at ONU Around the World wine sampling event is Sept. 13

Tickets are still available for The Inn at ONU's around the world wine sampling event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13.

The event allows participants to sample wines before purchasing bottles of wine. Ticket-holders may sample five two-ounces of wine with a selection of appetizers. Eight wines will be available at the event.

Each wine is unique to the Inn and is not available at local groceries. Tickets are $30 per person and are inclusive of tax and service fees.
