Cancer Cops Relay for Life team going for "bra world record," selling football raffle tickets

The Cancer Cops Relay of Life Team (Hardin County Relay) is creating a bra chain and are asking for old bras of any size, shape or color, along with a $1 donation per bra.

The bras collected will be delivered to women and homeless shelters and for persons in need in Hardin and surrounding counties.

According Deb Howe of the Cancer Cops team, “The world record is 169,000 bras collected.” Persons interested in donating may contact Howe at 419-675-2462 or Tina Sams at 567-674-5907.

The deadline for collection is Friday, Dec. 12.

Kiwanis spaghetti dinner at Ada school Oct. 23

Ada Kiwanis Club holds its annual spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23, in the Ada High School cafeteria.

Tickets are $7 each with children 10 and under admitted free. The menu includes spaghetti, salad, bread sticks and beverages.

The 37th Annual Ada Music Feast Choir Competition takes place Saturday, Nov. 8. The event will begin at 8 a.m. in the Ada High School auditorium, with show choirs from around the region (Including some from West Virginia and Indiana).

Auditions set for eighth annual Ohio Has Talent!

Auditions for the eighth annual Ohio Has Talent! competition will be held Nov. 14 and 15 in Van Wert.

The top 20 acts will take part in the Feb. 28, 2015, Ohio Has Talent! show at Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert. All entertainment talents are welcome – single and group acts – especially those other than singing and dancing, to provide variety for the show.

Contestants will compete for prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250 based on votes collected from the audience. Proceeds from the show benefit a nonprofit hospice center in Van Wert.

ONU prof has book signing on Saturday AM

Darrin Snyder Belousek will sign his recently released book “The Road That I Must Walk: A Disciple’s Journey,” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to Saturday, Oct. 18, at Book Reviews, 123 S. Main St., Bluffton, according to Christina Walton, store manager.

The book is published by Cascade Books.

The author is a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Religion and Ohio Northern University. He is also an adjunct instructor in the Department of Religion at Bluffton University.
