Hardin Leadership II is offering different routes this year for their 7th annual Buggy Ride — a bicycle tour in the Amish countryside of Hardin County.
The routes begin and end at McCullough Industries on County Road 175 in Kenton. They are designed to provide families and individuals with a low traffic ride in the country. Bike routes begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, for the distance riders —those traveling 60 miles throughout the Hardin County.
Those planning to travel 30 miles, 15 miles or the 6-mile family ride will begin at 8:30 a.m. Registration continues until 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The next Ada blood drive, held by the American Red Cross, will be on Monday, May 13, from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Ada Visiting Nurses and Hospice, located at 4392 State Route 235, Ada.
To make an appointment, call 1-800-733-2767 or go to www.redcrossblood.org . Donors need to bring an ID (driver’s license or blood donor card).
Look out your window on the morning of May 8, and you may see more students walking or biking to school than usual.
The Ada Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Team is sponsoring a Bike to School Day on May 8th, in cooperation with the national initiative to get more k-6 students walking and biking to school. K-6 students who participate in the event by biking or walking to school that morning will get a raffle ticket from a Ada SRTS team member on their way to school. Winners will be drawn at the start of school Wednesday morning.
What's going on in Ada in May and June? More than 50 events, in fact, are on the Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) calendar, which covers the next 60 days.
The calendar is compiled by The Ada Icon and sent to the village office for e-mail distribution. A copy is also available as a printer-friendly attachment at the bottom of this story.
The calendar includes:
• Items of interest to the entire community
• Ada school events
• Ada Public Library events
• Ohio Northern University events
• Public meetings
• Major events later in 2013
• Some general Hardin County events
Bridge Hospice Bereavement Services will be hosting its annual bereavement camp for children, Camp S.T.A.R., June 10-12 from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brugeman Lodge at Riverbend Park in Findlay.
Camp S.T.A.R., which stands for Special Times Always Remembered, is a three-day bereavement camp for children ages 6-12 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Campers participate in fun, traditional camp activities combined with grief and loss education. Together, campers realize they are not alone with some of the questions and feeling they have been facing.
