You may have heard about fireworks through the grapevine, but now it's official: the third annual Pride of Ada Fireworks will be at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, in War Memorial Park. Fireworks will launch from the Ada baseball fields near the park.

Elder Victim Ministry (EVM), a program of Crime Victim Services, is asking the community to “Build Strong Support for Elders” as part of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Thursday, June 15. Staff will gather at 11am at the CASA Park, 234 N. Main St., Lima, to raise awareness about elder abuse. Partner agencies and community members are encouraged to wear purple and if available, join the group for a photo to be shared on CVS media pages.
UPDATE: The Strike Out Cancer softball benefit game for June 13 is cancelled due to the weather forecast and the condition of the field.
Organiers will be making the fundraiser game up on June 29. The Home Run Derby will start at 5:00 p.m. and the game between the high school softball and baseball players will start at 6:00 p.m.
When registration closed at 2:00 p.m. at the 2023 Park-in-the-Park car, truck and bike show on June 10, there were 125 vehicles in the running for a variety of honors. The cars were beatifully displayed in War Memorial Park, which provided a green canopy of shade for attendees.
The NW Ohio Low Brass Collective will perform at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11 in Snyder Recital Hall which is located in Presser Hall at ONU.
The concert will include works by Bach, Bizet, Sousa, Curnow; with a solo performance by Dr. Erin Helgeson Torres. The collective is conducted by Tyler Ferris.
The Juneteenth Lima Committee and the Council for the Arts of Greater Lima will join the Sigma Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the City of Lima Parks and Recreation Department to present Juneteenth Lima 2023. The day-long event is a commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States, a celebration of the joys of liberty, and an opportunity to educate the community about Black heritage, and promote positive cultural interaction.
This year’s celebration will take place Saturday, June 17, in the Downtown Lima Square, all under the theme “Celebrate Us”.
