St. Mark Lutheran will serve its monthly free Community Meal on Wednesday, August 31, from 5:00-6:30 p.m.--or until they run out--at the church located at the corner of Johnson and Lincoln.

The meal is free and opened to the public. You may dine in, carry out, or drive up for curbside service.

This month’s dinner includes Sloppy Joe Sandwich, Baked Beans, Carrots and Celery, Chips, Cookie, and Fruit.

Organizers note, "Don’t be late. Last month we did not run out, but we did serve 114 meals. Hope to see you there."

You are invited to free outdoor movies in McGuffey. This Saturday night, August 27, the movie Home Team will be featured.

  • 9:15 p.m.
  • 404 Courtright St., McGuffey

"Come early for the best spots in the grass. Bring your blankets or chairs. The kids will love it, as well as the adults. It's such a nice change of pace, watching the movies under the stars instead of on TV. And it's all free.

"Lots of soft drinks and popcorn. Tell your friends. You'll have a blast. We will be having several more throut September, so check back often. See you at the movies."

The Allen County Fair is underway with something for everyone, notes Ohio Northern Art & Design, including illustrations by ONU grad Pat O’Connell (BFA/graphic design ‘05).
