Extensive feature on "how a cow becomes a football"

From Farm to Field, and Every Point Between: How a Cow Becomes a Football.

That’s the title of an extensive story in the Jan. 31 Sports Illustrated written by Kalyn Kehler. And, the story mentions the Wilson faculty in Ada, including photos of footballs being made.

The lead-in to the story states: “You’ve seen it snapped, thrown, kicked and spiked. But chances are you’ve never considered the origin story of an NFL ball – or how painstaking the process is to get every detail just right.”

The feature also mentions Rodabaugh Brothers Meats, Pandora, a supplier, and Tom Wagner, Bluffton farmer, and steer producer.

A Valentine craft and vendor show will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Ada Depot, 112 Central Ave.

Vendors include:

Volunteer income tax assistance - VITA

Taxpayers in Hardin and surrounding counties can find free income tax assistance from Ohio Northern University business students through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).

The VITA Program offers free tax help to persons who generally make $54,000 or less who need assistance in preparing their tax returns. As part of this program, ONU students receive training and become IRS-certified to help prepare basic and intermediate tax returns and identify special credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit and Credit for the Elderly.

Kritzler Lectureship in Chemistry Tuesday

Marc A. Hillmyer will discuss “How sustainable polymers can shape the future of plastics” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday,  Feb. 5, in the Forum of James F. Dicke Hall at Ohio Northern University. He will give a second, technical lecture, “Renewable, degradable and high-performing aliphatic polyester elastomers,” at 11 a.m. on Feb. 6 in Meyer Hall 204.

Both talks are part of the Kritzler Lectureship in Chemistry Series at ONU, and they are free and open to the public.

The Ohio Northern women's soccer program will open its 2019 campaign at the Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) Tartan Cup in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania under 16th-year head coach Mark Batman.

The Polar Bears will face off against Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) on Friday, August 30 and battle tournament host Carnegie Mellon Saturday, August 31 to start the season.

ONU raises the curtain on an eight-match home schedule with back-to-back contests against Wheaton (Ill.) and Hope (Mich.) on September 6 and 7, respectively. Both matches are slated for 3 p.m. starts.

That red arrow doesn't point to any old football. It's a Super Bowl football created in Ada. Twenty Wilson employees are in Atlanta tonight demonstrating how the footballs are created.
