Part of the ‘Living Through Loss’ Series on Feb. 18

The February presentation of the “Living through Loss” series will be held on Monday, Feb. 18, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and titled “Taking Care of You.” This presentation will take place in the Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital located at 1900 S. Main St. in Findlay.

It supports 26 county program and needs an additional push to reach its goal

United Way of Hardin County continues to pursue its mission “To Improve Hardin County by mobilizing the caring power of the Community.”

President, Merleen Barnes said, “We are very thankful to our citizens for many years of their generous support. However, the most current campaign update places the fundraising at only 81% of the $220,000 campaign goal.

The Ada Senior Citizens will meet Wednesday, Feb. 13,  at 12:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Community Health Professionals.  The business meeting will be followed with euchre and other card and board games.  Membership dues of $10 for 2019 may be paid at this meeting.

Wednesday, Feb 27, the Ada Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. or shortly thereafter for the buy-one and get-one free buffet at East of Chicago in Ada.  Bring a friend or pair up with someone after you arrive.  The group will then go to the Community Room of the community Health Professionals for euchre and other card and board games.

In honor of couple’s daughter

ADA – Beth and Dennis Funderburg of Dayton have established a scholarship fund to help ensure that future Ohio Northern University students receive the same high-quality educational experience that prepared their daughter for a successful career in medicine.

Andrea (Funderburg) Murphy earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from ONU in 2000. She continued her education at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and is now a practicing physician in Cincinnati.

2018 Business of the year will be announced at Feb. 20 annual dinner meeting

Ada Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors approved its 2019 general fund budget on Wednesday and discussed plans for several chamber-related events this year.

The $10,950 budget includes promotion plans for many Ada events. These include summer sidewalk sales, an October event, town and gown dinner, sweetest day, Merry on Main, Made in Ada Football Festival and Christmas lights.

The board also voted to provide financial support the ONU Lima Symphony pops patriotic concert, two ReStore meals and two of the 28 downtown flower baskets.

Northwest Ohio Auto Parts edges Associated Plastics for the trophy

Northwest Ohio Auto Parts (formerly Kline's) edged Associated Plastics 725 to 708 to capture the 5th Annual Ada Rotary Super Bowl at Norada Lanes Tuesday evening. 

Northwest Ohio Auto Parts defeated Quest 777-479 and Vancrest 806-770 en route to the finale.

Vancrest bested Ada Kiwanis 840-644 to capture third place.

Century 21 Sunway Realty prevailed in the consolation bracket defeating the Ada Lions 666-617.

The event was dedicated to the memory of that late Kevin Mierzejewski, who spearheaded the event until his death a year ago.
