Batteries don’t belong in trash or curbside recycling containers

MEDIA RELEASE__Rumpke Waste & Recycling experienced a fire at its new $100 million recycling facility in Columbus, Ohio in July 2025, which was caused by a lithium-ion cell phone battery. The business provides trash and recycling services to Ada residents.

BELLEFONTAINE – The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team stayed unbeaten with an 8-0 blowout win at Calvary Christian on Tuesday, August 26. 

Ada raced to a 7-0 halftime lead and cruised to the lopsided win.

The Bulldog girls improved to 5-0 with the non-league road victory. 

The fledgling Calvary Christian program fell to 1-1 after the loss. 

“We had a good night,” said fourth-year Bulldog girls head coach Doug Dewese. “Lots of goals in the first half, so we concentrated on a different formation and ball movement in the second.

CRIDERSVILLE__The visiting Ada High School volleyball team took down host Perry in straight sets on Tuesday, August 26 to stay unbeaten.

The Bulldog girls improved to 4-0 with the 25-15, 25-13, 25-8 sweep. 

Perry fell to 1-5 after the loss. 

Junior Alivia Gibson knocked down eight kills. Junior Dailah Preston also hammered eight kills and made two blocks. 

Senior Anna Conley drilled six kills.

Freshman Téa Griffith hit five kills, passed out 21 assists, hustled up seven digs and served six aces.

Melinda (Sousley) Gregor, age 73 of Celina, Ohio passed away on Saturday August 23, 2025 at home with her family at her bedside. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Evelyn (Cromwell) Sousley,  born on February 18, 1952, in Lima, Ohio. On April 7, 1973 she married the love of her life, Warren Gregor, who died June 19, 2018. Melinda leaves behind her loving children; Kerin Gregor of Celina, Andrew (Jackie) Gregor of Celina, James Gregor of Celina, Joseph (Desislava) Gregor of Columbus, and seven beloved grandchildren - June (Gabriel), Olivia, Jackson, Bradley, Remy, Ruby, and Reid.  

FROM BEATITUDES ON FACEBOOK__The Beatitudes Garden Club will meet on Aug. 27 at 11:00 a.m.

The August activity will be making a tea cup fairy garden.

HARROD__The Ada High School golf team won a close dual match over visiting Pandora-Gilboa at the Colonial Hills Golf Course on Monday, August 25.

The Bulldog linksters defeated the Rockets, 204-210. Ada was led by junior Brody Rister, who earned match medalist honors with a nine-hole round of 39. 

Ada improved to 2-1 in dual match play with the win. Winless P-G fell to 0-4 after the defeat.
