Letter to the Editor: Red Cross Learn To Swim Program

Summer has arrived and so has the time for Red Cross Swimming Lessons!  As in past years the Ada Learn To Swim Program is in need of aides to assist with the lessons.

Ages 12 and up, including adults are encourage to sign up to help others learn swimming
skills.  As little as an hour each day of lessons is helpful.  Lessons
begin the week of July 8  for 2 weeks Monday through Friday each week with
the exception of the second Wednesday.

Help is needed on deck for paperwork as well as in the water.  You do not
need to be a good swimmer to help others...we'll help you as well:)

Letter to the Editor: Vote Yes for Ada schools

SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT

On May 7th, you will have an opportunity to show your support for the Ada Exempted Village Schools and the local community.

An additional .75 percent income tax (effective January 1, 2014 – runs for seven years) has been placed on the ballot to maintain vital operations and programming for Ada Schools.  Over the past three years, your school district has seen permanent cuts of over $1.3 million from state and federal funding.

Letter of thanks for the Ada community

Dear Editor,

The Ada Kiwanis Club would like to thank the Ada community for their support of the club’s 61st annual Pancake and Sausage Day held on March 23rd.

This year marked a change in both date and venue as the fundraiser was held on a Saturday at the Ada Exempted Village School cafeteria.

The event was a huge success as we served over 570 people.

A special thank you goes out to the Ada Exempted Village School for the use of their kitchen and cafeteria.

Harvest and Herb Fest' on Ada's calendar for Sept. 15

By Alli Walbolt, Ada Icon ONU intern

For 27 years, the Harvest and Herb Festival has brought people from all over Ohio and even outside of the state to pack Main Street in Ada. With over 130 booths lining the street, a parade, and plenty of entertainment this year, there is something for everyone at this year's festival, which is Saturday, Sept. 15.

The festival is put on by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce and headed by Jeff and Deb Oestreich, Anna Poling, Scott and Arlene Allison, and JoNell Hanratty.
