Obituaries

Amos L. Wolber, age 96, died on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 12:18 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System. 

          He was born on January 13, 1922 in Kenton, Ohio to the late John L. and Lois (Klingler) Wolber.  Amos is survived by several cousins.   

          Amos retired from Baldwin Lima Hamilton, where he worked as a machinist.  He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during WWII, where he was a sharp shooter and he received the Purple Heart. 

Isana Kay Shepherd, age 71, died on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 3:15 p.m. at her son’s residence in Delphos, Ohio.

          She was born on July 15, 1947 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Elmer and Letha Marie (Holbrook) Williams.  On February 12, 2001 Isana married Eugene Shepherd and he preceded her in death on April 27, 2013. 

          Isana was a homemaker and formerly worked as a truck driver for Robert Preston.  She was a member of the former Alger United Baptist Church. 

Aline Click Rowe, age 94, died on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 8:15 p.m. at Vancrest of Ada, after a two week illness.                        

            She was born on November 20, 1923 in Garrett, Kentucky to the late Frank and Virgie (Huff) Click.  On February 28, 1939 Aline married Earnest Rowe and they were married for 66 years before his passing. They married at the age of 15 and 18.   

Roy D. Berry, age 57, passed away at 3:08 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at his residence in Alger, Ohio.

          He was born on December 10, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Roy Edward and Edna (Jones) Berry.  On November 7, 2004 Roy married Janice Howard and she survives in Ada.

          Surviving are two daughters: Angie (Alan) Carter of Georgia and Elizabeth (Chris) Reynolds of Georgia; one step-son: Jerry Howard of Georgia and one step-daughter: Joy (Vincent) Centaur of Tennessee.  Also surviving is a sister: Brenda (Claude) Everett of Georgia; and six grandchildren.

John “Bud” Mankey, Jr., age 97, died on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Vancrest of Ada.

          He was born on April 10, 1921 in Ada, Ohio to the late John M. and Blanche Daisy (Street) Mankey.   On September 27, 1946 John married Janice Frederick and she died on November 22, 1989.

          John retired from Superior Coach, Lima.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during WWII.  He was a member of the Lima VFW Post #1275, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #428 of Kenton, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the AMVets.  He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. 

Barbara J. Wood, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 8:55 a.m. at the Freida House at Willow Ridge, Bluffton, Ohio.

          She was born on February 2, 1927 in Kenton, Ohio to Chester E. and Helen (Griffis) Brown who preceded her in death.  On July 1, 1950 she married Charles E. Wood and he survives in Bluffton.

          Barbara was a former office secretary at Kenton High School and a homemaker.  She was a member of the Ada First United Methodist Church.  She was a former member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Wauseon and Lake Panasoffkee United Methodist Church in Florida.   Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
