Barbara J. Wood, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 8:55 a.m. at the Freida House at Willow Ridge, Bluffton, Ohio.
She was born on February 2, 1927 in Kenton, Ohio to Chester E. and Helen (Griffis) Brown who preceded her in death. On July 1, 1950 she married Charles E. Wood and he survives in Bluffton.
Barbara was a former office secretary at Kenton High School and a homemaker. She was a member of the Ada First United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Wauseon and Lake Panasoffkee United Methodist Church in Florida. Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Betty L. Crawford, age 90, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
She was born on October 10, 1928 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Charles H. and Arlene S. (Houck) Cox. On December 1, 1946 Betty married Arden A. Crawford and he preceded her in death on August 24, 2009.
Betty was the head cook for Upper Scioto Valley Schools for 25 years and helped run the family farm. She was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church of Kenton and had previously been a 4-H Advisor for several years in McGuffey.
Arnita D. Shepherd, age 75, formerly of Alger, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018 in Waco, Texas.
She was born on November 13, 1942 in McGuffey, Ohio to the late Freelon and Grace Ann (Johnson) Gullett. On January 27, 1962 Arnita married Lowell James Shepherd and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1999.
Lucinda Ann Basso passed from this life on Thursday, October 18th, at 8:25 a.m. at Seasons Hospice, Miami Jewish Medical Center in Miami, Florida after surviving 15 years with Central Nervous System (CNS) Vasculitis. She was 47 years old.
Cindy as she was known to her family and friends was the daughter of Rev. Walter Wilson, Jr. and Judith Ann (Jump) Powers born to them in Kenton, Ohio on August 24, 1971. On June 25, 2000, Cindy was united in marriage with Martin Basso in Jacksonville, Florida and shortly thereafter moved to Doral, Florida. In 2003, the couple moved to Louisville, Kentucky and returned to Doral in 2009 where they have lived since.
Richard C. Dyer, age 90, died on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 3:04 p.m. at his residence in Ada.
He was born on November 22, 1927 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Joseph A. and Lavina (Cole) Dyer. In 1961 Richard married Linda K. Parr and she survives in Ada.
Richard retired from the McComb Cookie Factory and he also worked for Liberty Township, Hardin County. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. Richard enjoyed cutting wood.
Also surviving are his two sons: Randolph (Kathy Lee) Dyer of Lima and Stacey Dyer of Midland, Texas; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Darrell Ray Carty, age 80, died on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 9:03 p.m. at Wapakoneta Manor.
Darrell was the son of Chester Carty and Bonnie Jackson, he was born on March 26, 1938 in Salyersville, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army for three years, which included a yearlong tour in Greenland. He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Lima for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1996.
