James Alt was a member of VFW Post 9381

James G. Alt, 90, of Bluffton died 3:06 a.m. Jan. 27, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Putnam County to the late Arthur and Elizabeth Nadler Alt. On Feb. 16, 1957 he married Ursula Nussbaum and she survives.

He retired from the Ford Engine Plant, Lima. He was a  member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bluffton, VFW Post 9381, Ada, and Putnam County DAV Chapter 77.  

Tommy "Tink" Hall funeral arrangements incomplete

Funeral arrangements for Tommy R. "Tink" Hall are incomplete at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home. 

Hall was born on Nov. 12, 1946, and died on Friday, January 24, 2014. He was a resident of Bluffton, Ohio.

Sam Tong drove Ada school buses for 14 years

Samuel D. "Sam" Tong, 90, died on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.

He was born on May 23, 1923, near Carey, Ohio to Joseph B. and Dorotha (Pratt) Tong and they preceded him in death. During his life he was married to Virginia Reese, Rosalind Rhoden, Betty Risner, and Betty Loop.

On January 9, 1989, he married Carole Jett Shaw and they just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. She survives in Ada.

Judy Lasko, life-long Ada resident, was active in many community organizations

Judith A. "Judy" Lasko, 77, died on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at 11 p.m. at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

She was born on Oct. 2, 1936 in Ada, Ohio, to Ray J. and Helen M. (Doersam) McClure and they preceded her in death. On Aug. 26, 1967, she married Richard Lasko and he survives in Ada.

Allen Hughes was a 1980 Allen East graduate

Allen Lynn Hughes, 52, died on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at 7:22 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima, Ohio.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1961 in Lima, to Phillip and Diana (Wheeler) Hughes. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Harrod. On Jan. 31, 1987 he married Marcy (Coates) and she survives in Harrod. He is also preceded in death by grandparents Weiser (Bud) and Vida (Smith) Hughes and Victor and Maxine Wheeler.

Lowell Hoy was active in many Allen East organizations

Lowell Laree Hoy, 70. died on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

He was born on Feb. 1, 1943, in Allen County, Ohio, to Gerald A. "Casey" and Gladys (Gunn) Hoy and they preceded him in death. On Feb. 27, 1965, he married Bonnie (Merriman) Hoy and she survives in LaFayette.

Lowell previously worked at Clarke Equipment and then he went to General Dynamics. He later retired in 2008 from John Deere Findlay Implement. He graduated from LaFayette-Jackson High School in 1963. He then joined the National Guard and the Army Reserves where he served for more than 6 years.
