Ora Puckett worked for ATI

Ora Puckett, age 72, of Alger, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 1:10 p.m. at her residence in Alger, surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 21, 1950, in Barbourville, Kentucky to the late Beve and Lena (Mason) Smith, Jr.  On June 29, 1968, Ora married Ellis Puckett and he survives in Alger.

Also surviving is a son, Michael Puckett of Alger; three daughters: Tracy (Steve) LaPrade of Lima, Wendolyn Puckett of St. Marys, and Tabitha Slone of Harrod; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two brothers: Jabe (Jenny) Smith of Corbin, KY, and Ted (Margaret) Smith of Horse Branch, Ky; and a sister, Pat (Terry) Kessinger of Centertown, KY.

Dorothy J. Lenhart worked for Oldaker Manufacturing

Dorothy J. Lenhart, age 98, of Dola, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 12:14 p.m. at Vancrest of Ada, surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 16, 1924, in Ada, Ohio to the late Eugene and Mozelle (Bullock) Thompson.  On November 21, 1942, Dorothy married Herbert W. Lenhart, he preceded her in death on February 16, 1995. 

 Oxie “O.C.” Neeley owned Neeley & Rutledge Racing

 Oxie “O.C.” Neeley, 81 years old, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at 10:41 AM at his residence in Forest.

He was born on March 1, 1941, to the late Betty Jane Pinks and Oxie Neeley of Salyersville, Kentucky.  O.C. was married to Connie “Rutledge” Neeley for 61 years.

O.C. is survived by siblings Bernice Neeley and Dan Neeley. Two children, Greg (Tracie) Neeley, Shawn (Krista-Heath) Neeley. Grandchild Ashley (Shane Hogan) Neeley and two great grandchildren Braxton and Oakleigh Hogan.

O.C. is deceased by his sisters Marthy Williams, Maxine Butler, Sally Webb, and brother J.B Neeley.

David L. Cole funeral announcement

David L. Cole, age 81, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 9:19 a.m. at Hardin Hills Health Center.

He was born on January 17, 1941 in Alger, Ohio to the late Edward and Thelma (Mayfield) Cole.  On June 15, 1962 David married Clara E. Frasure and she preceded him in death in 2003.  He then married Violet Scott and she passed away in December of 2021.

David and Clara were foster parents for over 20 years.  He played many years of softball, had a great love of bluegrass, coon dogs and played a mean tambourine. He never knew a stranger, had a heart of gold and love for Jesus.

Ed Henning coached at Harding High School

Coach Ed Henning, age 73 of Marion, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Ed was born on November 2, 1948 in Celina, the son of Edwin Roy and Bernice Irene (Boice) Henning. He graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School where he lettered in football. He received his Bachelor of Education from Findlay College and Master’s Degree from Ashland University.

It was at the Beer Barrel in Ottawa where Ed met his soulmate and future wife, Jo Ann Krieger. The couple married on May 20, 1972 and have cherished nearly 50 years of marriage.  

Julie A. Jenkins was born in Kenton

Julie A. Jenkins, age 74, of Kenton, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 4:36 p.m. at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton.

She was born on October 4, 1947, in Kenton, Ohio to the late Tommy and Osie (Bailey) Reffitt, Sr. 

Julie is survived by two sons: Jeremy Jenkins of Kenton and Jason Jenkins of Fostoria; a daughter, Sheri Wilson of Kenton; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers: Ben and Tommy; and four sisters: Minnie, Jo Van, Mary Lou, and Elizabeth. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Jenkins.
