WEST LAFAYETTE — Senior Zach Goodchild (Pickerington/North) and junior Joshua Turich (Centerville) earned All-Conference honors to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the 2018 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships on Friday-Sunday at River Greens Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (25-50-1 overall) finished fourth of nine teams in the 72-hole tournament with a 305-318-299-315—1237.
Goodchild finished fourth out of 45 golfers with a 10-over par 74-76-73-79—302 and Turich tied for ninth with a 14-over par 75-79-74-78—306.
Mayor Dave Retterer gave books, tokens, and certificates to Arbor Day art winners during an Arbor Day celebration at the Ada Schools on Friday. The mayor personally sponsors the art contest to encourage learning about trees and their care. He hand picks the winners, telling why the best drawings were chosen, and explains why he selected the books to give. This year’s concentration was on insects that are destructive to trees. American Cancer Society is calling on community members to participate in the annual Relay For Life of Hardin County on July 13 at Kenton Town Square, Courthouse.
The Society is seeking volunteers to form teams and stand shoulder to shoulder with us and cancer patients and those supporting them.
Vendors and food trucks are welcome to participate in this event. Event sponsors are still needed.

ADA — The Ohio Northern softball team picked up a 3-1 victory in game one before falling 8-1 in the nightcap and clinched the No. 3 seed in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day in the 2018 home regular season finale on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears move to 27-7 overall, and 13-5 in the OAC, while the Muskies move to 24-10, 10-8.
Heidelberg swept Wilmington in a twinbill earlier today and moved its conference record to 13-5. Due to tie breaker rules, Heidelberg will own the No. 2 seed in next weekend's OAC Tournament.

The Ada 5th, 6th, and Junior High Bands as well as the 6th grade and Junior High choir will perform their final concert of the year Tuesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.
In addition to the large ensemble performances, junior high and high school instrumentalists will perform solo and ensemble selections throughout the evening..
The 6th grade band will perform selections from Star Wars, The Sound of Music, and Harry Potter. Junior High Band selections include the theme from Sponge Bob Square Pants, To Conquer the Kraken, and the Red Masque.
