More than 2,000 boxes of cookies sold.
It’s Girl Scout cookie time, and if you haven’t ordered any, you are out of luck this year. Sometimes the youngsters have extra cookies to sell in front of Four Seasons or at McIntosh Center, but this year the girls have sold them all: an incredible 2,008 boxes.
So, if you see some Adaites gaining a few pounds in the next couple of weeks, blame it on the successful cookie sale.
Ohio Northern senior Amy Bullimore (Morrow/Little Miami) has been named Honorable Mention All-America by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association for her efforts during the 2017-18 campaign.
The senior is now a 2-time All-American, after being named Honorable Mention All-America by the WBCA for the second consecutive season.
Bullimore capped off her career in historic fashion this season, rewriting the record books at Ohio Northern.
Klondike is 95 years old today. He keeps a youthful glow. ONU ‘s favorite bear finally got a name in 2006 when the student body voted for the name Klondike. The mascot is seen at many events throughout the year.
Michael W. Purdy, age 69, died on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 5:19 a.m. at his residence in Dunkirk, Ohio.
He was born on October 16, 1948 in Bluffton, Ohio to the late William Franklin and Helen Louise (Woodruff) Purdy. On November 8, 1969 Michael married Brenda L. Mankey and she survives in Dunkirk.
Michael was the Director of Worldwide Operations for Rockwell Arvin/Meritor, Kenton. He was a member of the Lima First Assembly of God Church. He served for six years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the Lima Eagles Post #370 and a member of the former Masonic Lodge F&AM of Dunkirk.
The ONU College Democrats will sponsor a town hall meeting with two candidates at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the Dicke Building. Local residents are invited to attend.
Rob Richardson is a candidate for state treasurer while James Neu, Jr. is vying for a spot to run against incumbent Bob Latta for Ohio’s 5th district.
Jeannine M. Dixon, age 84, died on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 1:05 p.m. at Vancrest of Ada.
She was born on December 27, 1933 in Allen County, Ohio to the late Marshal E. and Boneta M. (Hall) Stoodt. On June 7, 1953 Jeannine married Kennard I. Dixon Jr and he preceded her in death on July 3, 2006.
Jeannine retired as a cashier for the Flying J. Restaurant in Beaverdam and formerly worked at the Bluelick Greenhouse, which in now the Forget Me Not Greenhouse. She was a member of the Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church. Jeannine enjoyed bowling and golfing.
