Ohio Northern University’s Tunes on the Tundra will feature We The Kings, with PUBLIC as the opening act, in the ONU Field House on Friday, Sept. 4, at 7:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the ONU Student Senate.
“As leaders of the campus, we believe events like this are crucial to keeping students excited and proud of their campus,” said Gina Grandillo, president of the ONU Student Senate.
Ohio Northern University student Anthony Ginella, a senior pharmaceutical business major from Canal Fulton, Ohio, was awarded the Order of the Sphinx at the Delta Sigma Phi National convention in New Orleans in July.
Ginella, president of the Alpha Eta chapter of Delta Sigma Phi at ONU, was recognized for his outstanding contributions to Ohio Northern University, his chapter and the fraternity. The award is given annually to undergraduates nominated by their chapter or national officer for their efforts throughout the year. Ginella was an initiate of the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity in 2012.
Dr. Edward Potkanowicz, Ohio Northern University associate professor of exercise physiology, has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Raptor Motorsports LLC and $15,000 of in-kind funding from Inde Motorsports Ranch to support research in human thermoregulation/sports performance and driver science.
The funds were used to cover the cost of equipment, travel and facility rental for a weeklong field research trip to Willcox, Ariz. Potkanowicz was accompanied by Dan Colvin, a senior exercise physiology major from Tipp City.
The Ohio Northern football family will host a Ladies Night camp on Sept. 1 at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The event is geared toward educating women on the rules, equipment and strategy of football.
Registration begins at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, with the program set to begin at 6:30 p.m. and run until approximately 8:40 p.m.
The evening will include presentations on the weight room, rules, equipment and game strategy, along with on the field drills for all in attendance.
The event is free, although the ONU Football program is requesting campers to make a voluntary donation to the Crossroads Crisis Center during sign-in.
Deirdre “Dee Dee” Myers, Ohio Northern University pharmacy and laboratory instructor, was presented the 2014-15 Albert E. Rosica Jr. Memorial award by the American College of Apothecaries (ACA) at the College’s 2015 Annual Education Conference in Denver on Aug. 14.
This award, established in memory of Albert E. Rosica Jr., a past president of the ACA, is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to pharmacy education.
After Myers graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1983, she began practicing pharmacy at a community pharmacy that she and her husband, Randy, still own. Myers also is the treasurer of Harry’s Pharmacy Inc.
Ohio Northern University is holding children's auditions for the “Holiday Spectacular” on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1p.m. at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Ohio Northern University.
