The lines on the ONU field on the west side of the stadium are being erased since lacrosse season is over and the university will host several soccer camps on this field this summer.
Physical plant summer employees Chloe White-Hoffman adds a solvent to the white lines, while Andrew Trihaft runs a power washer over the artificial turf to eliminate the lacrosse markings.
Lines for soccer will be added soon because ONU will host 10 soccer camps and clinics this summer.
Three golden retrievers from Idaho and Columbus, Ohio, attended the final rehearsal of the Boston Crusaders. Sometimes, almost never, you find what might look like a flying shrimp in the most unlikely place...and all of this has a local connection.
Judith Greavu, ONU art professor emerita, sculpted “Tide Pool with Shrimp” a bronze and fused glass creation on display in Lakeland, Fla., now through the end of the year.
Admiring the winning artwork in Florida is Ada Icon Editor Monty Siekerman. Judith’s sculpture was one of 10 pieces selected from 65 proposals submitted to be displayed along Lemon Street in the heart of downtown Lakeland. She retired after teaching sculpture at Ohio Northern for 20 years.
Dave and Kim Smittle's 1947 MG TC was picked for the Lions choice award at this past weekend's antique car show in Bluffton.
The Bluffton Lions Club hosts the annual show. The Lions choice award is determined by a vote of Lion members who volunteer at the car show. Nearly 200 vehicles were entered this year.
Smittles entered their 1947 and their 1953 MGs in the show (see photo below). The best of show was another British vehicle, a 1955 bright red Sunbeam Alpine. The vehicle is owned by John Rundfuss of Bucyrus.
Meet Karma. She is 8 months old. Karma is ready for her new forever home.
To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.
Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.
Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.
The shelter is also the place to contact for giving up a dog, if you find a lost or stray dog, or if you come in contact with a vicious dog. It costs $20 to surrender a dog, which pays for deworming and immunizations for when it is rescued.
