The Ada community is coming together this summer to support one of its younger residents – Amelia Griffin. She is the daughter of Beau and Christina Griffin. Her brothers are Jude, 7, and Willie, 3.

Four-year-old Amelia was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She has a tumor next to her spine and metastasized to her spine, according to information posted on her Facebook “Amelia Griffin Never Surrender Run.”

Tests have shown that her cancer has spread to several spots on her spine and pelvic region and below.

On June 8 Amelia began aggressive chemo.

Barstool racing was one of the events Saturday at the Ada VFW Post.

The racing contraption was devised by Wynn Hauenstein who is pictured here pushing his wife, Colleen. The race between two "vehicles," mostly made from tricycle parts, was held between downpours, but got accomplished Anyway.

No "ladies and gentlemen, start your engines" called out at the start, no checkered flag waving at the end, but a goodly crowd enjoyed the "greatest spectacle in racing" in Ada that day.

The day's festivities also included human foosball, also "invented" by Wynn, karaoke, and food off the grill.
