The seconds ticked down on the 2014-15 school year on Friday.

Even with a two-hour early release, for some it seemed too long. Others, yes, a few tears fell.

The Ada school year is history. The Icon recorded many elementary student saying goodbye and embracing summer.

Here's our photo essay.

Spring is a busy time for many with outdoor activities, but one inside business that picks up is dog haircuts, nail trimming, and baths.

Here, Savannah (on table) tells Caesar that getting a haircut and bath is fun.

Jodi McKean, owner of A Doggie in the Window, says she is extremely busy in the spring.

Savannah is the 10-year-old golden retriever of Martin and Diane Fisher. Caesar is a 4-year-old golden co-owned by Jerry Maag and Monty Siekerman.

Two area students were named to the ONU spring dean's list. They are:

Elita Smith, daughter of Jeffrey and Melinda Smith, 517 Clint Dr., Ada, a senior majoring in management.

Lauren Hector, daughter of D. Keith and Rhonda Hector, 111 Township Road 20, Mount Cory, a senior majoring in graphic design.

The deans’ list includes students who attain a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 grading system.

As a community service, 62 Ada 6th graders pitched in Tuesday afternoon to help make the Railroad Park a more beautiful place this season.

Many of the students mulched the numerous flower beds while others weeded. Several students also went down Main Street to clip away wild shoots from the pear trees and planted pear trees as well.

Help from 6th graders is an annual event each May.

The Ada Kiwanis Club awarded five scholarships to the following Ada High School seniors at the Senior Awards Dinner held May 13 at the Ada High School.

Recipients were: Alexis Amburgey, Tessa Coulson, Cort Everhart, Quinn High and Gabrielle Roll.

An additional scholarship will be presented Hope Hazelton at a later date. John Berg, president of the club, presented the awards.

He noted that the main thrust of Kiwanis International is to help the children of the world and seems fitting that the Ada Kiwanis Club would choose to make the annual presentations.
