Dr. Metta Lou Henderson returns to ONU for an encore
From the ONU Pharmacy Facebook Page - Dr. Metta Lou Henderson, retired ONU professor and associate dean, returned to campus last week to speak with pharmacy students in the Contemporary Health class.
She is photographed here with pharmacy students Joelle Hall, Franziska Pippig and Anna Crooker.
Dr. Henderson graduated with her BS and MS in the 1960’s and later with the PhD degree from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy.
She noted that when she graduated there were no computers, technicians, pharmacists couldn’t counsel patients, and only about 10% of pharmacists in her college class were female.
During her 20 years on the faculty at ONU, Dr. Henderson also served as an advisor to many student organizations, She emphasized to the class how important that it is for students to get involved at the National Level as these are perfect opportunities to find mentors and network.
Dr. Henderson served as the President of Kappa Epsilon Fraternity from 1965-1973 and is currently serving as the 2015 APhA Honorary President. Dr. Henderson said that one of the most rewarding things that she has done in her career was to write a book about women in pharmacy.
